Adhesive materials are used throughout the year. Spring is fine, and it's not a big problem to pay attention to the use of materials in summer. However, in autumn and winter, with low temperatures, there will always be some small problems during construction. So, how to use foam glue when it's low temperature in autumn and winter? Hurry up and save these 3 tips!
Q: Unable to clean thoroughly, leaving a lot of residue
Possible reason: The low temperature of the rubber bottle leads to high viscosity of the material and low air pressure inside the tank. The temperature of the rubber bottle generally needs to be greater than 10 ℃.
A: Solution
1. Store in an environment above 10 ℃ the day before use;
2. Soak the material tank in warm water at around 30 ℃ for about 10 minutes before construction. The water temperature should not be too high to prevent explosion;
3. Place the material tank under sunlight for heating, but adjust the irradiation time according to the intensity of sunlight in different regions to prevent explosion of the tank.
Attention: Do not use hot water or electric heating fans to directly heat up quickly. Please use explosion-proof cans!!!
Q: Slow drying, large pores (channeling), and small hair growth afterwards
Possible reason: Foam gel relies on moisture in the air to solidify. In autumn and winter, when the air is dry (especially in the north), there is very little moisture in the air that can react with foam gel, resulting in slow curing and affecting the foam pores and volume. In winter, the temperature is low, the catalytic efficiency decreases, and the reaction slows down.
A: Solution 1. Spray a small amount of water mist on the substrate surface and the newly formed foam surface, which is the best method;
2. Using a foam gun for construction can cure faster and create better foam holes compared to using pipes;
3. If encountering holes with a large filling volume, it is recommended to fill them layer by layer with water mist;
4. The expansion rate of foam at low temperature and low humidity in winter decreases, and the filling amount needs to be increased appropriately.
Q: Before fully curing, the surface may become brittle or even powdery
Possible reason: Conventional foam adhesive is used at a temperature of (5-35) ℃, and when it is below 5 ℃, it may become brittle and powdery.
Solution 1: Use according to the instructions. It is recommended to apply regular foam adhesive at a temperature of 5 ℃ or above; The operating temperature of Santai winter model is -10 ℃~+10 ℃
2. During the brittle period, do not perform cutting operations or vibrations temporarily. Construction can continue after the curing is complete and the toughness gradually recovers;
3. Spraying water mist during the construction process and heating the material tank before gluing can to some extent alleviate the degree of brittleness and shorten the brittleness time.
